How these robot names are built
Robot names in fiction fall into four traditions. Designations are letters and numbers from the factory (KX-47, UNIT-9, MK-3) and read as property. Acronyms are designations that got pronounced (V.E.R.A., T.O.B.Y.) and read as a person trying to happen. Nicknames are what the mechanic calls it (Sprocket, Clank, Widget). AI names are what the machine chose for itself, usually something classical or abstract (Meridian, Theorem, Solace).
The designation grammar uses letter pairs that read cleanly aloud and a bank of numbers with genre resonance but no famous match. The acronym grammar alternates consonants and vowels so every result is pronounceable. The paired style (designation, called nickname) covers the very common story of a machine that got a name.
Famous robots and AIs are blocked so your robot is not already someone else’s.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to what players and writers ask us most
Which style for a friendly companion robot?
Workshop nickname, or the paired style so it has a designation to be embarrassed about. Menacing machines suit bare designations; ship minds and superintelligences suit AI names.
Can I get an android that passes as human?
Use the AI names, which are chosen names, or take a Human generator name and give the android a designation from here as its secret.
Free to use?
Yes, freely.
