Druid Name Generator

Druid names belong to the grove, not the court. Every result here gives a Celtic-flavoured given name with a gloss and a nature-name the circle would call them by.

How these druid names are built

The genre hears druids through the Celtic languages: onsets like br, gw, ll and rh, the ch and th codas, and diphthongs like ae and ei. This generator borrows the sound, not the words, building two-syllable given names that fit beside Welsh and Gaelic without copying any real name.

Endings carry a gloss: -an (little), -wyn (fair), -eth (of the grove), -oc (young) and -ai (of the standing stones) read masculine; -wen (white, blessed), -id (of the river), -wyth (wise), -ith (oak-keeper) and -ona (flame of the hearth) read feminine; -el (of the mist) is shared.

The grove-name is what a druid is called inside the circle: a tree, animal or element joined to a role. Rowanheart, Heronwise, Stonekeeper and Wolfwhisper come from the same twenty-eight parts, and the meaning under each reads the compound back.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what players and writers ask us most

Do druids use surnames?

Rarely. A druid usually has a birth name from their people and a grove-name given by the circle. The generator gives both; use Given name only if your druid has not yet been initiated.

Are these real Welsh or Irish names?

No. They imitate the sound of those languages with an original grammar and glosses, so they sit comfortably in a Celtic-flavoured setting without borrowing a real person’s name.

Can I use them for rangers or shamans?

Yes. The grove-names in particular suit any character whose identity comes from the wild.

Free to use?

Yes, freely.
