How these cult names are built

Cult names in fiction share a grammar: a familial or ecclesiastical word (Children, Church, Brethren, Covenant), a quality (Silent, Hollow, Drowned, Inverted) and an object of devotion (Eye, Mouth, Star, Door). This generator combines fourteen of each with weights that favour the classic form, The Children of the Hollow Eye, and each part carries a hint about the belief it implies.

Cults named for their god use an epithet rather than a name, because the name is either forbidden or unknown: He Who Waits Below, She of the Thousand Eyes, the Smiling God, the Voice in the Static. Each epithet hints at the kind of god and the kind of horror.

For the god’s actual name, use the Deity or Demon generators; for the cult’s leader, the Villain generator.
