Githyanki Name Generator
Githyanki names should sound alien even next to a drow’s. These are built from a harsh, clipped grammar with an invented set of glossed endings.

- Kinvinesh

How these githyanki names are built
Githyanki names as the genre presents them are clipped and hard, with v, z, k and th and very little softness. This generator uses that inventory, allows heavy clusters, and favours the vowels a and i, so the output sounds like a language spoken through clenched teeth.
Endings carry glosses from an invented register: -ith (of the lich-queen’s favour), -ak (raider), -ar (silver sword), -ul (knight), -esh (astral-born). A few are gendered (-na seer and -ka blade-dancer read feminine; -ek enforcer and -oth ancient read masculine) but most githyanki names are not, which the Any setting reflects.
The split form joins two glossed parts with an apostrophe (Raz’thil, Vro’kaath), a shape many players associate with githyanki ranks and crèche names. Both parts are original.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to what players and writers ask us most
Do githyanki have surnames?
No. They are known by a single name and by crèche and rank. The split-name style here can stand in for a rank-name or a crèche designation.
Can I get githzerai names too?
The grammar is close enough to use for githzerai; set Length to Long and choose the single-name style, which reads more contemplative than the clipped raider names.
Are these from D&D?
They are in the style of D&D’s githyanki but generated from original data. Canonical names are blocked.
Free to use?
Yes, freely.
