How these half-elf names are built
Half-elves in most settings are raised in one culture or the other and named accordingly, and the mixed name (an elvish given name with a human surname, or the reverse) is a quick way to signal a character who lives between two worlds. This generator offers all four combinations.
The elvish half uses a softened version of the high-elf grammar: the same liquids and diphthongs, but with more closed syllables so the names sit a little closer to human ears. Its endings carry meaning: -ion (son, heir), -iel (daughter), -wen (maiden), -mir (jewel). Elvish family names compound two glossed nature roots (silver-wind, moon-leaf).
The human half uses the Heartlands register from the Human generator: two-syllable given names in -ric, -win, -bert, -wen or -ith, and glossed trade and place surnames (Fletcher, Ashford, Ravenscroft).
Gender applies to whichever given name you are using. Length applies to the given name only.
